So I’m part of this 31 day challenge, I’ll write on a new topic every day . I hope to focus them around the theme of my blog (life after college), and hope that through these unique words/topics I’ll add some more glitter to the world, inspiration to myself and others, and have some fun. You can learn more about it here.

I was really thinking about today’s word and lots of random stuff came to mind.

“When it rains it pours.”

Storm (from Xmen)

general chaos

and then I remembered this story from the Bible and I thought of myself and the internal storms that I don’t always let Jesus quiet. So basically Jesus and some of the disciples are on the ocean and Jesus takes a nap (my kind of people), and then a storm rolls in and they’re freaking out and they’re like Jesus don’t you care there is a storm going on. He tells the storm to quiet and then he’s like, yo, boys, why don’t you have faith, stop being a bunch of scaredy-cats.

You see sometimes there is chaos going on in my life and instead of having faith and trusting in God’s capabilities to quiet the storm I freak out and say God don’t you care about my lack of peace? Don’t you care that I’m lonely? Don’t you care that I have this big decision to make? Don’t you care that I’m having this issue? Don’t you care that I’m struggling?

And God reminds me, I’m right here in the boat with you. Why are you afraid, have some faith and quiet the storm. That storm is not going to hurt you or drown you, you are my child, that is just a storm.

And much like the disciples I say: “What you can quiet the storms? You can do that, they seemed so insurmountable.”

Oh we are so foolish, to think that our Jesus is smaller than the storms to forget that all things are possible with faith in Him who strengthens us.

I serve a God who quiets the storm, come join me in worshiping the one whom even the winds and waves obey!

When I was in my alum’s Gospel Choir, we used to sing this song and it just speaks to my soul about who God is and how He never ever leaves us in our storms and in fact the storms never last when he’s around.
